PTSD in Unpaid Caregivers: Risks, Signs, and Support

Thu, Sep 15 7:00pm - 8:00pm

Hosted by Ontario Caregiver

Webinar Description:
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can impact family caregivers facing chronic strain as well as those exposed to life-threatening events. It is important to learn the signs of caregiver PTSD, so you can take
immediate action to prevent things from becoming worse. If you suffer from symptoms like nightmares,
feeling depleted of energy and joy in life, being excessively on the lookout for danger or find it difficult
to provide care, you may be experiencing PTSD. Join Dr. Patrick McGrath, webinar speaker, to learn more
• The nature and symptoms of PTSD and the tools used to measure PTSD
• How often PTSD occurs in caregivers
• The effectiveness of medical and psychological treatments for PTSD
• What caregivers can do to help themselves if they have PTSD

Our Speaker:
Dr. Patrick McGrath is a clinical psychologist and Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at Dalhousie
University and a scientist at the IWK Health Centre where his research is based. He is an Adjunct
Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa and founder and president of 90Second Health
