KCHC’s Barrack Site is home to Street Health Centre (SHC) and the Ontario Harm Reduction Distribution Program (OHRDP).
Street Health is open 365 days a year delivering health services through a wrap-around care model for people who face barriers accessing mainstream health services. SHC began as a needle exchange program in 1992 and has evolved into a multi-service model providing health, disease prevention, primary care, and treatment services.
OHRDP ensures that Ontario’s harm reduction programs have equitable access to evidence-based harm reduction supplies; the knowledge and tools they need to share with service-users about safer practices to reduce harms and the transmission of HIV and hepatitis C; and inventory knowledge and tools to support the management of harm reduction supplies for the more than 850 access points in the province.
