Early Years
KCHC offers programs and supports for families with children from 0-6 years living in Kingston. Programs include prenatal education and support, EarlyON Child and Family Centres, and school readiness programs. All our services are free; assistance with transportation and childcare may be provided. KCHC services are available to those who reside in the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington area. Call us to get more information or to register for any of our programs.
EarlyON Child and Family Centres
EarlyON Child and Family Centres is now offering virtual, outdoor and in-person playgroups.
EarlyON centres offer programs for parents and caregivers with children from birth to six years old. Pre-registration is required to attend any groups, simply go to www.keyon.ca to set up your registration account. If your internet access is limited or you have trouble registering call 613.542.2835 x4202.
Raising a child can be an experience full of love, hopes, dreams, fears, and joy. When you come to an EarlyON Child and Family Centre you can expect to find opportunities for sensory play, creative art, music and movement, active play, science and nature, plus dramatic play. You get to meet people and and share in the joys and struggles of parenting. Watch for various pop-up EarlyON events throughout the City and more locations! Les centres On y va offrent des programmes d’accueil gratuits pour les parents et les personnes s’occupant des enfants dès la naissance jusqu’à l’âge de six ans. Vous pouvez y apprendre et jouer avec votre enfant, rencontrer des gens et obtenir des conseils. Practical Assistance – Early Years
This program offers practical advice, information and referrals, and connects families with children 0-6 to services needed. Assistance available to help clients with completing forms and online applications.
Rooted in establishing connection between the client and supports to help address unmet social health needs, e.g. prenatal supports, EarlyON registration, daycare applications, and lots more.

School Readiness
School Readiness programs are for children who are not currently attending day care or nursery school and will be attending junior kindergarten the following September.
This program helps prepare children and their families for the transition into the school system. Participants will have the opportunity to develop important skills in self-regulation and positive relationship-building, as well as a foundational understanding of the kindergarten approach to learning. School Readiness will help significantly improve the child’s success at school and actively engage parents in their child’s learning.

Les programmes de préparation à l’école s’adressent aux enfants qui ne fréquentent pas actuellement une garderie ou une école maternelle et qui seront à la maternelle en septembre prochain.
Ce programme aide à préparer les enfants et leurs familles à la transition vers le système scolaire. Les participants auront l’occasion de développer des compétences importantes en matière d’autorégulation et de construction de relations positives, ainsi qu’une compréhension fondamentale de l’approche pédagogique à la maternelle. La préparation à l’école contribuera à améliorer considérablement la réussite scolaire de l’enfant et à faire participer activement les parents à l’apprentissage de leur enfant.
