Kingston Transit – Bus

Bus services are available within most areas in Kingston.

Adults and youth aged 15 and up must pay $3.25 per ride. Monthly passes can also be purchased. All children 14 and under can ride for free.

A free one-month transit pass is included in the welcome gift for newcomers. Transit schedules and maps can be found here.

Accessibility

Kingston Transit buses are accessible for individuals using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.

Kingston Access Bus provides accessible transit service. Each ride will cost $3.25. A registration form can be accessed here. Each ride will need to be booked ahead of time.

Driving Test

All drivers living in Ontario need an Ontario driver’s license. A driver’s license is also a common form of identification.

A Class G license is necessary to drive a car. There are 3 Class G Licenses:

  • G1 – Must pass an eye test and a written test
  • G2 – Must pass a road test
  • G – Must pass a road test

A test can be booked online with DriveTest. The test will take place at a DriveTest location. In Kingston, the DriveTest centre is located at 381 Select Drive.

License Exchange

Some newcomers may already have experience with driving. It may be possible to exchange their previous driver’s license with an Ontario driver’s license.
