Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC), in collaboration with the Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) Gender Clinic and the Queen’s Family Health Team (QFHT), is proud to be the site of the KCHC Transgender Program.
This program centralizes the referral process and coordination of care for patients with transgender health issues, and is staffed by a full-time Nurse Practitioner and a full-time Social Worker.
Services offered include:
- Therapeutic management
- Hormone therapy
- Surgical planning visits
- Community resource navigation
- Social transition support
The KCHC Transgender Program provides inclusive medical care and support to help patients identify and achieve their transition goals. At this time, the program scope is limited to transgender issues; we do not manage patients’ ongoing primary care concerns.
Self-referrals are welcome. Any previous referrals sent to the KHSC Gender Clinic will be reviewed and directed to KCHC, QFHT or KHSC depending on patient needs and program capacity. Current wait times are approximately six to eight weeks.
The KCHC Transgender Program can also provide education services to primary care practices who work with trans clients.
