Occupational therapists help people develop skills needed for day-to-day activities when skills are lost or reduced due to injury, illness, mental illness, chronic disease, or other health conditions. Working with people, occupational therapists find solutions through therapy programs, showing new ways of doing things, making changes to your home, school or workplace, or prescribing equipment to make tasks easier. Physiotherapy focuses on promoting, improving, restoring, or maintaining the patient’s ability to move the body. Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT) are available for patients attached to KCHC primary care or involved in community programs offered at KCHC. Services are aimed at those experiencing functional limitations and/or reduced participation in everyday activities and who do not have access to existing OT or PT services (individuals with private insurance do not qualify).
