Volunteer Driver
Volunteer title: Volunteer driver, Senior’s Food Box program
Location: Kingston, various neighbourhoods
Availability: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, approximately 10:30am-1:30pm
Summary:
We are looking for a volunteer driver to help deliver our Senior’s Food Box to seniors’ homes around Kingston. This program provides fresh produce and dry goods delivered to seniors’ front doors. You will be helping to ensure that seniors in our community have access to fresh, healthy foods, even if they have mobility barriers or other limitations, along with providing a friendly face and a community connection.
Time commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours per month, split over the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month, starting at 10:30am.
Tasks:
- Pick up orders and your delivery sheet from our warehouse
- Count and pack your deliveries into your car (with help from the volunteer team)
- Deliver to seniors per the instructions on the delivery sheet, greeting each client with a friendly face
- Communicate with program coordinator on any delivery issues in a timely manner
- Return any undelivered items to KCHC
Requirements:
- Must have own car to complete deliveries
- Must have valid driver’s license and insurance; must obtain driver’s abstract from Ministry of Transportation (costs reimbursed) and sign volunteer driver form
- Must complete vulnerable sector check with Kingston Police (costs are reimbursed)
- Commitment to confidentiality of client information, and to always treating clients with respect and kindness
