Allotment gardens have plots (allotments) that individuals/families can rent year-to-year for growing their own crops. Many allotment gardens also include donation plots, seed saving plots, and other projects. ​Below is a list of all the allotment gardens in Kingston. If you are looking to get a garden plot, please contact the coordinator of the garden you are interested in.

An Clachan Community Garden

On private land, this site is for An Clachan (Queen’s mature & international students residence) use only.

Bay Park Community Garden

A new community garden in the west end, looking to promote community by growing and eating local food! Whether you have extensive gardening experience or are new to growing your own herbs and veggies, all are welcome to join their community.

Calvin Park Community Garden

This garden is located on land donated by the United Church. Open to everyone.

KMFRC Kingston Community Garden

Would you like to experiment with gardening? Become a KMFRC Community Garden member. This garden is for military families, veterans, DND personnel and reservists.

Elmwood Community Garden

Nestled in the Bowling Green Apartments on City-owned land, this is the longest continuously-run community garden in Kingston. The gardeners maintain a large composter and have two accessible garden beds for members with limited mobility.

Friendship Park Community Garden

Nestled on a quiet side-street in the Skeleton Park neighbourhood, this garden on municipal land features 18 4×4 plots in a long raised bed, with one lower-sided bed for increased accessibility. Onsite composting, rain barrels, and some basic supplies & tools in a shed. The park has a great playground, tennis/basketball court, and small path; bring your kids, dogs, and friends along to do some gardening! $20 annual fee.

Lakeside Community Garden

Lakeside Community Garden is more than 2 acres of land, the largest in Kingston, and welcomes new gardeners and volunteers to join as plots become available. Lakeside is involved in a variety of projects including individual gardening plots, a large donation garden, school gardens, edible food forest, medicinal garden, seed saving initiative, native species/butterfly gardens and an opportunity for more. $10 general membership, $30 plot holder membership. MacLean Park Community Garden

Operated on City-owned land, this is a welcoming place where residents can come together, grow food, friendships, learn and share. $10 membership. Fees vary depending on bed size.

MacLean Trail Community Garden

On municipal heritage property on Hwy 15, this garden offers twelve 4’x16’ raised bed gardens. The garden enhances the use of the property as a centre for community gatherings, and provides significant community benefit including contributing to local food programs. Some garden beds are leased for exclusive use by individual members, while other beds are reserved for common and donation beds. $10 membership. Fees vary depending on bed size.

Oak Street Community Garden

A place for everyone and anyone to grow food for themselves and others and to learn about food gardening. The garden includes allotment plots, tasting gardens, a donation garden, programming plots, and a market-training garden, all on municipal land. Ongwanada Community Garden

16 tilled garden plots measuring 8′ x 20′ are available for rental for the gardening season. One stipulation is that all plots must remain herbicide- and pesticide-free. Your yearly $30 plot fee includes the use of one garden plot, use of Ongwanada’s garden tools, and the preparation of the soil in spring and fall, and water supply.

Scott Ecological Community Garden

Located on private land, this new community garden has 20 large (3 x 5 metre) plots available for use, collectivized donation gardens, access to a shared shed, rainwater collection. Get in on the ground floor to participate in building a governance structure internally.

Sunnyside Community Garden

This garden’s goals are to enable residents to grow their own food and flowers, give people a place to meet neighbours, provide educational opportunities for the community, and provide a welcoming place for everybody to enjoy. The garden is located in the Williamsville neighbourhood, on municipal land, and includes allotments and a donation garden. $30 membership.

Seventh Day Adventist Church Community Garden​

This garden is located on the church grounds and includes 14 raised bed allotments.

Queen’s West Campus Community Garden

Priority is given to the Queen’s University community, but plots are often available for the general public.

Wolfe Island Community Garden

A flexible, multi-purpose and sustainable outdoor resource for community use, this garden is a welcoming space for all ages, including youth, to exchange knowledge/experience and to develop skills related to gardening and healthy, active living. The garden is a central space that encourages connection and collaboration between many residents and community groups/organizations.
