The Family Health Educator (FHE) at Midtown Kingston Health Home supports positive health outcomes for families and children, with a focus on pregnancy, newborn, early childhood, and early school-age years. Through interventions like system navigation, health education, and knowledge-sharing sessions, the FHE provides individualized and group-based support to parents & families.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the FHE helps clients build resilience and develop practical skills, drawing on a strong understanding of the social determinants of health, equity, inclusiveness, social justice, and trauma-informed care. The FHE empowers families to identify and achieve their health-related goals.
Examples of FHE services include (but are not limited to):
- Prenatal and postpartum education
- Prenatal intake and support
- Breastfeeding support
- Infant feeding support
- Newborn and infant care
- Infant sleep support
- Infant & Toddler development
- Introduction to solids and managing picky eating
- Early speech and language development
The FHE also supports clients through case management and health system navigation.
