Volunteer Hairstylist
Volunteer Title: Certified Hairstylist
Location: Napanee
Availability: Thursday’s 3pm-5pm on occasion
Summary:
We are looking for certified Hairstylists to create beautiful looks for our amazing community members. As a Volunteer Hairstylist, you will provide essential hairstyling services to individuals from vulnerable populations, who would not normally have access to these services. Your role will not only enhance their physical appearance but also contribute positively to their health and wellbeing. Community Hairstylist:
- Provide hairstyling services, including haircuts, styling, and basic hair care advice.
- Create a welcoming and supportive environment for clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and respected.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to coordinate service days and manage client flow.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hairstyling area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and safe to use.
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and preferences, offering personalized services.
- Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols to ensure the well-being of clients and fellow volunteers.
Organizational Commitment:
- Preserves confidentiality and seeks to minimize risk;
- Respects and values the diversity of communities and individuals;
- Volunteers during both regular and extended hours of operation in locations identified by the Centre;
- Contributes to the Centre’s efforts to secure and maximize resources for current and new programs, services and activities;
Qualifications:
- Valid hairstyling license
- Previous experience in hairstyling or cosmetology is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals facing challenging circumstances.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of clients and the organization.
