It aims to improve strength and balance, optimize cognition, and promote self-management through a variety of functional activities. It is an ongoing program run by an Occupational Therapist. It runs twice a week: Mondays at Rideau Heights Community Centre and Thursdays at KCHC. Registration is required.

Each one-hour session covers key topics such as what COPD is, symptom management, and proper inhaler techniques, and includes guest speakers like a dietitian, social worker, and pharmacist. Alongside exercise training, the program emphasizes education and long-term behaviour change to support lasting, health-promoting habits. With a strong focus on self-management, participants build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage their COPD, and receive a personalized COPD Action Plan to complete with their primary care provider— all with the goal of improving both physical and psychological well-being.

Enjoy conversing with other caregivers and parents as well as learning tips and tricks from our expert nurses and dietitians. Transportation and snacks are available.
