Rideau Heights Community Centre

Living Well in the Community is a falls prevention program designed for older adults. It aims to improve strength and balance, optimize cognition, and promote self-management through a variety of functional activities. It is an ongoing program run by an Occupational Therapist. It runs twice a week: Mondays at Rideau Heights Community Centre and Thursdays at KCHC. Registration is required.

A 5-week program designed to help participants better understand and manage their condition. Each one-hour session covers key topics such as what COPD is, symptom management, and proper inhaler techniques, and includes guest speakers like a dietitian, social worker, and pharmacist. Alongside exercise training, the program emphasizes education and long-term behaviour change to support lasting, health-promoting habits. With a strong focus on self-management, participants build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage their COPD, and receive a personalized COPD Action Plan to complete with their primary care provider— all with the goal of improving both physical and psychological well-being.

On the first and third Tuesday of each month, an ODSP caseworker is onsite to assist with Medical Special Necessities (MSN) forms, including medical travel, diabetic and respiratory supplies, Special Diet Allowance (SDA) forms, Disability Determination Packages (DDP), and ODSP medical and financial benefits.
