Access+ Clinic is a site of Kingston Community Health Centres, offering low barrier and judgment-free services to those who are not attached to primary care.

This full-day workshop provides training in the core Brief Action Planning (BAP) principles and techniques. Core concepts included stepped care for self-management support and the spirit of motivational interviewing. The practical skills taught in this course are how to use ask-offer-ask to give information and advice and how to use BAP to help people make action plans that address the aspects of their health or situation that are most important to them. Includes two 30-minute practice and feedback sessions with an expert trainer.

Enhancing health literacy fosters a more collaborative care environment, empowering patients to take an active role in—and have greater control over—their healthcare decisions. This workshop offers training in the fundamental principles of health literacy universal precautions and teaches essential skills, including using resources effectively, applying plain language, practicing teach-back, and using the ask-offer-ask approach.

Kingston Community Health Centres' newcomer bridging clinic is dedicated health service for refugees, protected persons, and other newcomers who are new to Canada and face language or system barriers when trying to access health care. This clinic offers transitional primary care for up to two years, giving clients the time and support they need to settle, build trust, and eventually connect with a long-term family doctor or health care provider.
